sup everyone i was browsin the web for car parts and discussions about them and i came across this forum. i like the fact you guys talk about each part and give your REAL opinion about whether its smart or dumb without completely bashing the person. My name's Nick, im 17...i got a 2000 3.8l V6 Convertible...based at 194 hp? i want to make this car a beast, but dont wanna break my bank, but if i buy something for power i wanna buy the right thing..not half ass it and have to buy it again in 6 months..my car is completely stock but i just ordered the "Flowmaster Force II Cat-Back Exhaust System...should be here tomorrow..installed in 2 days...after that im thinking headers and then maybe a CAI, O/R H pipe(this requires MIL eliminators?) feedback would be appreciated..i just want my car to have the sound at first..what are the best headers,cai..etc...and is there a book i can buy or a magazine or something that has every car part on/for the 2000 v6 convertible?

welcome to the forums.

it looks like you have a few questions there.

I'll let the v6 Experts take care of that for you.

but i'll leave you with this...... Gears are your friend.

you have what is called a 7.5 read end.
GT's have an 8.8 rear end.

the #'s on the gears is refering to the teeth on the gears.

I suggest that if you do gears you get 4:10's from FRPP and a T-lock as well.

a t-lock allows both your rear tires to spin instead of just one.

My car does not need to pass an emissions test, im going to take my cats off as they hold my car back and does a t-lok add anything? or is it money just to get both tires to spin? what are the bonuses? and my budget is whatever, im young so my parents will help me out a little and whatnot and i want to buy parts right, not cheap and have to replace in a few months. the goals for my car..are to Look Good, Sound Good, And go Fast if i want it to, i want the people who have chevy's and civics and whatnot to make fun of my Ford, or my slow V6...cause with my attitude i get mad and ill race right then, and i want to leave them in..."awwwww" lol i want people to be like...Damn...

the T-lock will allow you to spin both tires..

meaning that you get more grip.. a better launch..

it doesn't add power but it allows your car to put what it has down better.

same thing goes for the gears.

they don't make power.. they allow your car to.

i see i see...makes perfect sense, it would be like a fast car in the rain, if your tires are spinning your not going anywhere as fast as you would if they were stuck to the ground..gotcha, where can i find a t-lok and whats it gonna cost me?

first i would say if u dont have emitions get some tong tube headers then maby a off road mide pipe but with this and a full 2.5" exaust u will lose some low end tq
now for othere mods i would say get a moderetly cheap CAI off of ebay and then put on a K&N filter
then some new plug wiers i seggest MSD superconducter
als ou may want to start looking at some rims because thay make a huge diference in the look of ur car
along with some new springs
other good mods to consider would be UD pullys, tuner, t lock and gears

yay found it, so now i got both wheels spinning, will i notice a difference in my car? is it a big enough difference to where i will feel my car pulling harder and faster? after this mod, what should i do next...the gears? i got my exhaust on the way already so i dont need that, but i want to work my way up and having both wheels on the ground seemed a good place to start.

you should do the Gears at the same time you Do the T-lock.

you have to pull open your rear end to do either mod so save yourself 3-4oo bucks and just do it at once.

and yes you will see a BIG diff. once you get the gears/t-lock in
