My Potential To Do List

I've got a 2000 v6 auto vert that is bone stock. I want to be able to at least hang with and hopefully smoke some GT's of the same body style. I'm thinking these are the things to start with. Correct me if I'm wrong. Any input about where to buy or if this is a stupid start to modding her, let me know.

-4.10 Gears (the v6 is a 7.5 not 8.8 rear end right?)
-CAI (probably a cheapo off ebay)
-Shift Kit (haven't done much research on these)
-Tuner (seems like the favorite is SCT)

PS. I kind of sense that most people don't get a tuner this early in the game. Is that true? And why not if it is?

- Yes
- good idea
- get a Jmod
- good idea

PS: because we like to be seen and heard so we buy exhaust and other things first.

Correct about the 7.5 being in the v6.

Not that bad of a list. Too bad I have more mods sitting in my garage that need to be mounted.

since you are doing the gears, get a t-lok also, add dual exhaust and a UDP and you got the basics done.. and yes its a 7.5

-4.10 Gears (the v6 is a 7.5 not 8.8 rear end right?)

the v6 has a 7.5 rear end.

-CAI (probably a cheapo off ebay)

that works

-Shift Kit (haven't done much research on these)

good idea

-Tuner (seems like the favorite is SCT)

use what your local tunning shop does.
popular choices are SCT and Sniper

PS. I kind of sense that most people don't get a tuner this early in the game. Is that true? And why not if it is?

they are expensive and people don't look at the bigger picture so they do bolt ons instead.

and you are going to need a longer list than that to hang with a GT

You could skip everything and go directly to the super/turbocharger!

Or a 75shot of nitrous

I ain't got much in the way of cash flow right now and she has also got to be my daily driver (she's already got 160k on her.) Maybe once I get a job and another car we'll dig that one back up.

Anyone know the cheapest place to get a set of quality 4.10 gears and a t-lock? I checked v6mustangstuff and it looks a little pricey. Maybe I'm just broke...

Edit: Anyone ever done the gear and t-lock install themself? My brother replaced the gears in his yota so he has a faint idea of what I've got to do but if anyone here has first hand experience I'd appreciate any pointers you've got.
