98 v6 modding...Help..
I recently bought a 98 v6 3.8 liter mustang (not GT ver.) from a dealer and well...I'm looking to make it faster..Any suggestions of what to buy and add for increased speed would be greatly appreciated. I'm on around a 700$ budget as of now. (yeah, still in highschool...dead-end job, haha)

cai, coil pack distributor, spark plug wires to go with it( get those 3 for a little over $200) Those will give a noticable amount of power. Gears and trac lok, underdrive pullies, and a tune to start off with. That will prob go over your budget a bit...dunno where the numbers are at right now, but that will wake your pony up a bit. Exhaust stuff for your car you can't go with longtube headers so either go with equal length headers, h-pipe or x-pipe and then a gt catback exhaust of your choice. Go with new headers unless if you plan on turbocharging the car later down the road.

I would go with gears/tloc and a tuner chip. Throttle Bodies aren't going to do too much until you get higher into power. And cai's aren't going to give you much other then a little bit more tone inside the car when you are driving.
I do like spark plug wires though. Nice cheap mod that helps more then most think though. |

if your gonna do spark plug wires and a new distributor go with the Screamin Demon coil packs, and some msd 8.5 superconductors. That will give your car more of a boost than you think. I was honestly extremely surprised with my setup. I don't have the msd wires I have livewires, and I would recommend those as well, but in all honesty I won't recommend them over MSD.
