Looking for a dyno.....

hi, i live in River Falls wisconsin (very close to the minnesota border, minneapolis) and im looking to get me car dyno tuned as i will be getting it back tommorow night from having a 4.2 put in with ported heads and intakes and a new cam. Im wondering how safe is it to drive this car without a tune? With a sniper tuner 4.2 tune that i create myself?

You can get Justin at VMP to write you a base tune -
Did you put in new injectors also?

umm you should be just fine to drive it with a basic tune... or w.e you can write... if you have questions about it PM juggalo_x or email the manufacturers and see if they recommend anything

Your 19's might be pushing the limit. I would buy the 24's and not install them till you get the car tuned.

yea 19lbs with ported heads and intakes will kinda be on the edge.
maybe not so much with a v6 but why not upgrade and be safe..
usually rule for mustangs for knowing when to upgrade injectors

forced induction
(turbo supercharger)
Nitrous

and head and cam work

for a new cam i'd do lifters and springs for sure..www.rpm-mustangs.com should have your springs and lifter or a valveterrain deal.
tell them Chris sent you or if you'd like i can send them an email

I already have new springs from comp cams, and as for the lifters what do they add as far as performance, and what brand would you reccomend, and should i stick with the 1.73 stock ratio> my cam is 224/224.

19s should be fine , the tune should be fine to drive on till you get to the dyno , just dont hammer it till you get on the dyno to double check the air/fuel .....

upgraded lifters is really just hardened for strength as far as im aware of.
the springs is wat will let the lifters open the valve more with the new came which will give you that extra hp

so lifters dont do anything as far as performance? The mechanic working i more car said they would give it more power and a much better sound as well, i doubted him at first but he finally convinced me, but perhaps he i wrong?

lol not better sound....if you change only the lifters..and not the springs or retainers you really not doing much...the springs just allow more opening of the valves

which allows more air...which equals more power

a bigger cam is what allows more opening of the valve , upgraded lifters wont compress as easily as stock ones which assures you will get the max amount of lift out of your cam , the upgrades springs assure that you dont get valve float from the bigger cam at higher RPMs due to the valves opening farther and for a longer period of time if the duration of the cam is longer , the retainers are just hardened more to assure they do not come loose from the valve tips at higher RPMs ......they all work together .......biggest things you want to make sure is that you have enough valve seat pressure for the cam and RPMs you will be running the engine at ......lifters are overkill on mild set ups , retainers as well ....IMO...

stock springs with a cam that'll open the valve more then stock is more what i was talking about
