you should be able to use the fenderwell intake with your smog pump, i had my MAC version installed with mine equipped, but later deleted it due to failure of the pump. basically there are 2 electrical connections with a air tube, if you disconnect you will throw a few codes, the CEL can be turned off in the tune or by "pulling the bulb" (not advised). if you ever sell the car by federal law you must disclose that you disabled or tampered with the smog equipment. if you choose to delete it, i would do the EGR at the same time, cap the header bungs and plug the egr holes on the upper intake manifold. if you remove the pump and don't get your PCM reflashed it will not produce any adverse reactions other than more pollutants and the pesky CEL. i will post up a few pictures of the smog pump it'self.

Mine went in just fine with no problems...Is this something that is only there on the V6's or did they change it pre-2002?

Like I said I had no issue at all...

mine went in fine too, but it was tight to attach the filter to the intake tube... also if i'm not mistaken there is another smog pump design that looks more like a brake booster... not all v6'ers came with smog pumps, only the one's with the "california emission's package". but the smog pump resides in the passengerside fenderwell... so if you are having problems, just unbolt it and move it to the side then re-install?

with my MAC CAI kit the filter was directly on the opposite side of the fenderwell, are you saying your kit has a turndown inside of the fenderwell hole? if not i would just unbolt the smog pump it put on the filter and rebolt it back up...

pros: more space, much cleaner look, can utilize non-smog headers, will have to get a SCT re-flash (could be a pro? ), cleaner intake track due to not recirculating the exhaust gas into the upper manifold

cons: check engine light, increased emissions, possible failed inspection for missing smog pump (but unlikely), slightly decreased fuel economy, will have to cap egr ports on UIM or use block off plate, will have to cap smog bungs on oe exhaust manifolds.

i see, he has that demolet tunable cai... man it looks like you gotta send it back or relocate/delete the smog pump, unless you want to configure it with the filter inside the engine bay which defeats the purpose of the "fenderwell induction".

not sure, does your smog pump look like mine (pictured above)? maybe his filter is longer? maybe the demolet tubing is slightly diff on the v6 models compared to the gt's or cobras?
