Time to kill my mechanic?

Okey so ive been having some one put in my engine and ever since day one things just havent been going good. First i drop in the 4.2 myself at his houseand there is no compression. So he says it is the rings sticking. So i pay him to rebuild the engine. Now everyday i keep hearing " oh itll be done for sure tongiht" but ive been hearing this for over a week. The engine was finally all rebuilt and assembled today but now it leaks coolant all over the place. Im starting to wonder if he really has any idea what he is doing. Also he is charging 1600 for parts and labor (bearings, rings, head work...) and he is saying what a crazy deal he is giving me. This isnt really a crazy deal is it?

$1600...for labor um and those parts thats a GOOD deal...that engine has to be torn apart for replace the bearings, rings and head work cost money too. it has to be sent to another machine shop.

where is the coolant leaking from?

the coolant is leaking from the pipe coming out of the lower intake that the coolant line hooks onto so it should just be a matter of replacing that little gasket, but it still makes me angry that they didnt have it right the first time. I mean if they took that piece off why wouldnt they have replaced the gasket. But the car does run, and i heard it myself, so it should be ready to go by tonight and i will try and have some video and sound clip up by the weekend.

There is a tube coming out of the back of the lower intake that goes to a heater hose. There is also a tube going around the left side of the engine and into the water pump. I believe both are sealed with an o-ring.

$1600 to do a valve/ring job and R&R the engine isn't bad at all.
