To The Track I Go.

Ok. So I am thinking about taking my car up to the track next thursday. I dont plan on doing great. Im just wanting to see what happens. Any words of wisdom about the 1/4 mile? Any quick mods I can do to shave off some time?
Thanks

Good luck. As was said, weight reduction is your friend. Try not to go out there with more than 1/2 tank of gas as well. If you have never raced before, park your car and watch a few races. I will assume it is a test and tune night so they may let you run by yourself the first time if you let them know you are a Noob.

Yeah. I knew about the whole gas thing from watching races. I dont know if ill do the seat thing because I dont know how long it takes to bolt/unbolt them. I will take my spare out though. Ive heard about people unbolting front sway. How easy is that? What do you guys think I will do according to my mods. I dont think itll be too great but Im just wanting to see what she does on the 1/4 mile. =]

Go out there with some buddies if possible. I always have more fun with my buds out at the track. Good for taking vids so you can see how you did after the fact.

Taking the front sway bar only takes about 30 minutes but I don't think I would remove it if this is your first time at the track. You may want to drop a little pressure in the rear tires and add to the fronts. I usually run my front tires at 40 psi. There are no bolts on the rear seat, just clips. The passenger seat will have 4 bolts and should take less than 5 minutes to pull.

Go around the water box. Don't do a huge burnout if you are running street tires. Just a little hop to clean them off. Make sure you report back on your experience and times.

peple laugh at me because i run with stock new edge gt's, but then i pop the hood and they see 25% less cylinders and i get some respect...

r/t is not important, so dont worry about sitting at the tree. your 60' is where it is all at, and go around the water box since you have an open diff and street tires.

I grew up around the track.. we even have a little 1/8th mile drag strip just down the road and its pretty fun.. after watching a couple people and going down the track once its easy.. it also helps if you go with 1 of your friends and the track official will let you ride with them for 1 run so you can be sitting in the car and experience it without actually driving
