Carbon fiber hood

So I happened to come across a carbon fiber hood in a bit of a trade...well it isnt in the best condition. I looks kinda dull or sun faded. Will I be able to buff it to look like new?

+1

But don't paint it to match your car cause your just defeating the purpose of the CF.

explain how hes defeating the purpose? the purpose is to have a lightweight hood not to look like a ricer with unpainted carbon fiber

most people buy the hoods for the look not for the weight reduction..also carbon fiber hoods are a bit harder to paint than regular hoods so yeah i just say reclear coat it and it should be fine ..

i guess im different, only reason i would buy a hood is for weight reduction since all i care about is performance, the car looks good enough stock :award

Yea i agree Avaric3, the only reason i would buy one is for weight deduction and it would also have to look nicer then the current hood....

people who buy it for the look defeat the purpose...not people who paint it....it is mainly for weight reduction...the appearance people tend to like more then others....painting over it can be fine and doesnt hurt anything.....plus Ive seen the Carbon fiber doors for the new + 05 Mustangs...and having those with a carbon hood painted to match will take a nice amount of weight off without even knowing the car has weight reduction from first looks

IDK, if you paint it you're adding weight to it.

Look at the special edition Veyron; it isn't painted only to decrease the cars weight.

BTW, lol I know that a painted carbon fiber hood wouldn't add much weight to the car.

Its paint....and its also not that serious...and this is a V6 Mustang...im sorry but we're talking a stock car that runs 16s and makes 190 flywheel hp not a Veyron which makes 1000 at the flywheel and cost more then needed.....for a million $ not having a car painted doesnt matter at that point.....

Yeah it looks like a mix of faded or not maintained or something...I gave it a buff in my garage and it helped but I think it needs a lil more tlc. I suppose I could sand it and re-spray the clear, but at that point ill go ahead and spray it black at my friensd shop. The plan is to paint it but I gotta find the time/motivation
