What RPM range is best for mileage? I've been trying to stay in the 1,500 range.

yea what i do is always fill the car up completely and then i reset my trip odometer and when i fill up the next time i see how many gallons it took to fill it up again and then divide my miles by the gallons used.

I ended up putting almost a half a can in on a quarter tank of gas. This was about 4 weeks ago (2,000 miles) and it didnt hurt a thing. Im not sure if I noticed a mileage increase but definately a smoother engine. With gas prices going through the roof, I hoped it helped a little.

i had the same problem before. i went from 20 mpg to 11mpg.
You said it got cooler. this could be your problem.
The temp here in montana dropped down to like 40 degrees and that is when i got 11.
If you have a cai, it will hurt your mileage if it gets to cold outside. At least that is my experience.

Just my 2 cents. take it for what it is.

my girlfriend has been getting 17 mpg's lately. her k&n intake was crap because it kept falling off the TB. this is why we thought she was getting bad mileage. so we bought an ebay intake that goes in the fender and has a nice boot for intake tube to TB, it doesnt fall off the TB now but it seems gas has gotten worse. now she's getting about 15 or less. yes the weather is cold, about 10 degrees some nights and she put weight in here trunk because of snow for traction(180 lbs of sand). but do you think it should be this bad?? i mean its still a 6cyl. i have an 8cyl 350 and im still getting 13-14 lately with a 4400lb car!

The weight could have a good deal to do with the drop in mpg. Something that I as wondering Stang300a. Have you started doing more city driving than usual. That could be part of the problem. Also have you been running at higher speeds/higher RPMs than you had been? Let us know if the seafoam helps. In fact all this talk of seafoam has made me decide to go get some tomorrow.

the seafoam did definitely help. no i wasnt doing any more city driving than usual and i havent changed my driving style so higher speeds/ rpms should be the same.

Depends on the motor - the Cobra gets a significantly better mileage turning 2300 rpm than 2K (like 26 vs 22). It's one of the biggest reasons I'm gonna put 4.10s in that thing as soon as I have the money to.

Good I'm glad to hear that the seafoam helped. Did you just put in your gas tank or did you put it in the crank case as well? I'm going to seafoam my car within the next few days. We'll see how much it helps.

i actually went out and bought seafoam today for myself and my girlfriends car. she was still getting 15mph after today. got 43miles on 3 gallons of gas so thats not too good still. fuel light came on so we went to the pumps, put the full can of seafoam in the tank and put about 10 gallons of gas in. says it treats 8-25 gallons of gas with one bottle, so we just made it a super heavy concentrate. i also took one of the sand bags out too. i figured with spare tire,2 60lb bags of sand and crap in the trunk is about 150lbs. i think thats enough weight in the trunk no? idk we'll see in a couple of days how her mileage is doing with the weight drop and seafoam in the tank. post really isnt that old is it?? like 3 weeks?? decided to use the "search" button like people would ask me to use if i asked about it. just thought id bring up old conversation and it seems we've even enlightened a member to also try this amazing seafoam as a test. so ok *break* report back in a few days men...move out!
