Just what it sounds like. It gives you one more gear over the main drive gear.

overdrive is 4th gear for your transmission. turn it off and it is a 3-speed

so is it hard to change and automatic shifting handle? cause of the push button and all? the one i have now, stock, is that weird T-handle, im changing it to a regular one where the push button is directly on top instead of the side.

I think there is just a screw that you need to take out on the stock auto knob. I have a new shift handle that should be delivered mon. or tues. Will let you know then what all you need to do to take it off.

it isn't hard you can relocate the button pretty easily, I had a friend who never smoked in his car so he pulled out the cig lighter and put it there

This brings back bad memories. It was such a pain in the ass to get the handle/OD button off. It looks odd with my new handle/OD relocation kit on there. My suggestion is to scrap the whole idea and just get a whole new shifter.
