probably stupid question

mustangs are rear wheel drive right? which would mean that if you had a little bit more weight in the back where the wheels are pushing, you would be able to have better traction and be able to go faster right? if you had your rear seats removed, spare tire, etc, from the back with the idea of making it go faster cause its lighter, would that do anything?

Yes more weight would equal more traction but make you heavier to, thus slowing you down. With the back seat and spare removed you will be quicker but have a greater chance of the tires slipping.

It's a win/lose situation. Here's a REAL stupid question. A stock '07 V6 Mustang...does it come with the internals already forged?

no they don't ... they are cast internals ...

The thing with removing weight is ... our cars are so heavy as is ... you wont notice the lack of weight unless traction is at a minimal say... in ice...

now if you want to remove weight and still have good traction in the rear... you need to lighten the front end meaning relocate the battery, delete the a.c system, tubular K member... things like that all help oh and draglites too

I know this is all hypothetical so I will refrain from ripping on this question. But unless you are going to a strip, keep your spare on board for golly Gods sake. The one billionth of a second your gonna gain in a Mustang from removing a 30 lb tire is so minimal its ridiculous. Take a big shit before you get in your car and you'll gain more time.... and feel better too.

I will say this on the subject of traction. On my old Goodyears, my car was more fun to drive. I could smoke the "tire" and make a real nice one wheel squeel. I could get the back end to slide around corners real predictably. Now with these k106, its all grip and no fun. I know its better on times and its deffinately safer but I can only burn rubber with some mositure.

As said, it can also depend on the tire. I have Coopers on there right now and I can get them spinning real nice, haha. Losing the spare isn't worth what could happen if you blow out. The back seats...if you never give anyone rides, I say go for it. Theres little bits and pieces you can take off from every inch of the car, but unless you are going for a true drag car, it really isn't worth the effort or the lack of appereance to me. (Maybe thats just me though)

But ya, on the spinning topic, all depends on the tires. Im going to go with the Nitto 555 when I get my new wheels, better traction and control for street driving.

Less weight can equal more speed, but loss of traction. All depends how its done. Your call.

losing weight will not do anything..

the only difference you can feel while loosing weight is get rid of Everything on your engine bay.. now you will be lighter than ever
