Voltage Problem

alright so today i was sitting in traffic and when i make a complete stop all of a sudden my battery meter/volt meter start to go down to "L" and the lights dim on the dash, but as soon as i touch the gas pedal the meter goes back up and the lights get brighter. i dunno what it is. i was thinking it is either the battery or the alternator. what do u guys think? i really need to find out what it is cuz i only have until sunday to fix it.

have autozone check it for free. They can hook it up to a machine that will tell you exactly what part of the alternator is going bad or if you have dead cells in the battery. Then you can replace the appropriate part rather than guess. IMO- sounds like the alt.

alternator problem go to Autozone as said above. The have a machine that checks your alt which is real good.

they could whine and then get dead...

or theres one part that when gets fucked up you get low voltage but when you get the rpms high it will be ok..

rigth now my alt is fucked and it does that.. when its at idle and electronics go on it will get like low voltage but when its rev or at certain rpms above 2ks it runs fine.. this alt have gave me that problem twice.. it was like 30$ fixed and now it has that again plus the whine.. i cant say you got the same problem of me.. cause yours could be something else and cheaper or more $$$ to fix

in order for your alternator light to come on the alternator's out put must drop below 3amps which is retarded but aparently thats the bare minimum the pcm can work with.

hey guys correct me if im wrong but the gt has an alternator of 110amps and the v6 is 105amps right? would it be better if i bought the gt alternator and if so would it be a direct fit? (this is only if i find out my alternator is bad.)

arent we in the 21th century lol? (fuck it)

well the stang is bullshit then.. it has all sort of problems and never seen a light and like of 23 problems it had i just seen an engine light once and it disappeared the other day..

the only car in the garage that seem to tell you everything that goes wrong is the shitty slow Prius (wich is a great car with it high mpg ) but then its frustrating to see in its LCD "W.e Problem Please Take It To the Dealer" and the car then blocks himself to prevent starting it..

ok just got back from autozone and the dude checked both the alt and batt and he says everything is fine. it also stopped doing it. i drove and put all my accessories on and it wouldnt fall down past the middle on the guage so i dunno what the hell is going on. i guess ill just keep driving it until it does it again. well for now i think ill go wash the car and check all the connections on the batt and alt and make sure they are good. ill keep u guys updated. thanks for all the replies btw.
