your alt is toast and everytime that battery light comes on your car changes to battery power so your killing your battery too.

Yeah, definitely get a cap. Regardless though, your battery shouldn't drain that fast unless you have a 2000 watt amp. I would suggest driving it for a while with the subs disconnected and if the battery light comes on when you accelerate then its time for a new alternator.

Sounds like your alternator is toast. If you have a rather large amp and subwoofer setup you probably want to consider getting a larger alternator to replace the stock one.

Do NOT waste your money on a capacitor. They do nothing useful. its a shitty bandaid for a much larger problem. Upgrade your alternator and battery.

Woah slow down guys. I didn't plan on falling asleep after i posted this so i could post more info about the car. Ok
1. I got a new alt like in may
2. I have subs but their only powered by a 300W amp so i dont think that would have killed it.
3. How big an amp should i go with runing that and all the interior lighting and stuff?

Probly i mean i did buy it from Napa so most likely it does. But, it jsut started doin this and i think i (according to my friend) "buzzed" it while i was dikin around and lowered it capacity by runin it to hard. But does any one happen to know what the stock alt. # amps on the v6 are by any chance? Thanks

ok well this sounds like a problem with our chrage back wire not really the entire alternator like every one has suggested. look for any corrosion on your battery terminal and try chraging your battery. your alternator sounds too new to be causing this problem. and a normal alternator should be about 85 to 90 amps. just to be safe though i would take a little trip to auto zone and ask them to help you test it. and have them test the voltage of your battery to make sure its at 12.6. and a capacitor is not junk nor is it a cheap bandade to cover up a bigger problem. it most cases it can really help you when your running big power. but you seemed to have a small system so i dont suggest buying one until your really pushing some wattage. but still go down to autozone and have them check it. you could just have a bad charge back wire. try these things befor you go spending big money.

but when you were dikin around with it you could have burned out a diode in it now that i think about it.

Yep, i recall a forum i was on sometime ago where someone went into great detail explaining how a capacitor works in a car audio application, and why they dont work like you'd think they might and why they're a waste of money. Just go to any respectable car audio forum and ask them what they think

all a capacitor does is help out the battery by holding in stored energy and releasing it when the bass needs that extra bit of power that would normaly drian the battery to a bad spot. and it keep voltage spikes from occuring and smooths it out.
