Need Advice (Engine Knocking)

so my engine has been sounding funny. its had a knocking noise and i had it checked out. the guy told me that one of my rods is knocking and is going to require some major engine work done. i know enough to know that a knocking arm is bad and even worse is a thrown rod. i cant make up my mind on what to do about it. should i spend money to get it fixed, or buy a new v6 engine or just go for the v8. i dont know any of the prices for any of those options either. what do you guys think??

but if youre a real genius, youll get an LS1 stroked to a 383

hahaha, i like where this guy is goin. well with all the money in motor swaps and rear axle swaps, would it be cheaper to just go get a used 01 gt or something?

Yes, either build the v6 or trade the v8 swap wont be cheap. And a 351 isn't a real motor as the LS1 still owned it

you can swap over a 302 with ease. it will bolt to your tranny and all you need is the motor, wiring harness, computer, and exhaust to make it work. that is a cheap option if you dont want to put in another- or rebuild your- v6

My brother has a 02 WS6 with LS1 engine. It's all stock but it's a beast. I drove it this week end to get some screw lockers for my fog lights when my car was ripped apart.

My vote would be to rebuild the V6. You could upgrade it at the same time with stronger internals if you want to. Easiest option would be to buy a rebuilt short block.

my vote, rebuild the v6 if u dont have the extra cash do to the trans, and rearend swaps, etc.... however

ls1 > 2v,4v motors

5.0 > ls1 and ill prove it all day long.

damn. ive takin it to 3 different people to have it looked at. one says bad spark plugs, the other says could be a loose flywheel, and the other said its a rod thats knocking.
