Question

Knocking Coming From Engine

Does anyone else have a problem with knocking comming from the engine when you start your mustang? I bought a 2002 V6 new with only 4 miles on it in Feb 0f 02. From the get go it had a knock that quieted down after it ran for a while. Back in Dec of this last year I totaled it.I now have a 2004 V6 with that same problem... Do all Mustangs have that some noise?? A Ford dealer told me they all did. I don't believe him. I anyone else has that problem please let me know. THANKS ALOT

Unhappy

knocking.

guess it is more of a ticking sound. kinda sounds like a loose lifter, but i thought that they were not adjustable. at least the ford house in burk said they were not.

no i dont think its spark knock. that would a louder than a small knock. it more along the lines of an exhaust leak or a loose spark plug. loose accesory mount, loose or worn rocker arm pedestal, mechanical fuel pump or worn cam shaft. but still its probably a spark plug being loose or exhaust leak.

If you have a brand new exhaust it could very well be an exhasut leaking at one of the welds or the connections

no because it done it when i got the car and it had a stock exhaust then when i stuck the new exhaust on it, it kept doing it and if it was a exhaust leak it would do it all the time not just as soon as i start it and its a thump noise not a air noise????
