Help w/My Stupid Idea

well the other day i was thinking about my stang, an 01 v6. I want to mod it, but where do i want to go with it? since putting headers on a car that later on will be turbocharged, is well pointless to me. so i got the dumb idea to twin turbo it. before i get flamed for that, the reasoning is to be unique, be different, stand out a little bit. the reason i think that way is well i own and have modified 2 saturns to date, and i have and have gotten crap for it so yeah back to the stang. I understand turbocharging since ive been studying it for several years now and understand all the componenets to make it work effectively. my problem is the weaknesses in the drivetrain, what are they? how long will the rear end hold up under power, or how much power will the 7.5" rear end hold? the 8.8" rear end i hear is a good upgrade, how do i mod that to hold good power, and what gears would be good for boost, 3.73's, 4.10's would be way too much if ive read enough. what tranny do i have and i have read the t5 is a good upgrade, someone said i have a t5 but i doubt it since its a 6er?

I will elaborate more on my ideas for a set up when i get more research done and how i want it to work out, ive got a good start from this site and hope to gain more.

oh and thanks for having me, this is my first post

A twin setup is always better than one in my opinion, all the big power of a big turbo but with the fast spool and low end of a small one. As for the rear end, it's not going to hold much power unless you leave the street tires on it (no track time), plus I'm pretty sure those 7.5" are "one wheel peel" if you know what I'm saying. Getting a trac-loc 8.8" is the way to go, will hold all the power you can put to it with a set of 31 spline axles and carrier. Even the stock 28 spline setup probably won't ever break unless you put slicks and launch hard.

drivetrain wise- everything mdvaldosta said. look at some 3.55:1 ring and pinion gears for the 8.8" rear end (if you get it). this ratio will be ideal for increased acceleration on your turbo application. and turbos off of long tubes is not so farfetched. you will be fabricating a lot of lengthy piping, but it would be worth it.

You don't have to go with an 8.8. I think J was still running his 7.5 with his heavy ass 19" rims on street tires and still pulling 11s

i bet if he put on lighter 17s and got slicks and an 8.8 he'd be running 10s all day tho

as for the post 8.8 with 31spline will have you set til 9s
12psi on 93 octane is your max with about 370-380rwhp
its not to far fetched at all since its been done...you will have to make your own kit or take to a shop that can make the kit for you.

wow you guys are awsome, probably the most information ive received on any mustang board.

the 8.8 rear end, is there any car i could look for in the junkyard that would have that. i remember reading somewhere that some mustang model had it, not sure if it was the gt or the cobra.

for the manifolds i plan on using a stock set or a set of shorties and modify them so the exhaust outlet is facing the front of the car, instead of the rear. but i still have to stare at my engine with the hood up to get a visual idea of piping routes and what not. I do a lot of staring and goofy hand gestures while thinking things out.

same year GT- will bolt right in and axle length is exactly the same.
just turn the right one upside down on the other side for forward facing manifolds and vice versa for left...

na J didnt touch 11s til he got the built motor....
which IMO is SAD. if i had ported intakes and 12psi i'd hit high 11s all day. but my car is also over 500lbs lighter then his.
J's car really doesnt impress me to much. i dont care for most if any twin v6 set ups ive seen. 12psi made 370rwhp with one guy...people have made 335-340 on 10psi on a single...roughly 10-15hp per psi...12psi single will be over 350rwhp

compare cost? $2k
we'll see what ui make at 11.6psi safely to compare then my 1/4 runs
