video looks good I wanna live where you do by the way lol. but widebands are what you need. and your just going to have to get tunes until you can get a dyno tune or if you could find a way to get 200 more bucks and get a dyno tune it will help you a lot. You have no power down low cause you need to launch it go from a low low idle like that is why you have no power tach it up to about 2k and let her rip.

i think i told you this in another thread but your cam is a pretty good sized cam, the reason your cars not picking up from a stop is cuz you need a higher torque converter to work with your new power band. there may be another problem, but this is def one of them

Also a good point you'll be able to tach it up higher for a better launch, but for that cam I am almost positive you have fuel problems not a vacuum leak, also your start from a stop is about normal for a auto mustang idleing at 600 rpm

they are pretty easy to install , basically hot , ground , and then wires going to the O2 sensor that will need to be screwed into a bung in your exhaust which you can get welded it at any exhaust shop .......If you do not want to spend the money on a Sniper one , the AEM ones are $299 from summitracing.com and are great for the money IMO....

so i guess right now im kinda stuck at whether i should buy the wideband or wait another week or two when i could come up with another 200 for a dyno tune, which would be a better option? I can not afford to pull the engine and swap in a new torque converter any time soon.

dyno tune is your best bet for a good tune, but it is also good to have the tuner yourself for subtle changes

I listened to the audio. There is some valve train related noise, that, as you said, may be a loose valve adjustment. That could by itsself affect the idle. I would check the valve adjustment first. (I'm assuming you have some aftermarket valve train that is adjustable. Otherwise you may have a bad lifter.) For the most part though it just sounds like a fairly radical camshaft that would need a higher idle adjustment. I wouldn't think that changing from a 3.8 to 4.2 would lean the mixture that much (after all it's controlled by the flow rate) and since it runs well at higher RPMs that would seem to be the case.
I tend to agree that you may need to increase the idle speed and stall level of the torque converter but I have no experience in such things. It may also be necessary to modify the computer settings (tune) to compensate for the changes that have been made. |

ideally, get both.
if you dont have enough money, get the dyno tune now and get a tuner later. maybe the guys at the dyno can save your tune for you if you buy a tuner from them?

Tune has been adjusted for the larger displacement and idle speed was set to 800 vs the stock 560 RPMs to account for the larger cam ......so unless the MAF transfer function is off some and not delivering the right amount of fuel , that leaves valvetrain issues , vacumm leaks ,etc ..... that will cause idle issues , compression test should probably pin point any valvetrain problems

I'm not sure what input to the ECM controls idle mixture i.e. mixture is usually richer at idle. Perhaps the mixture vs RPM curve needs to be adjusted to richen the mixture at idle. Of course a vacuum leak or other source of unmetered (by the MAF sensor) could cause it. I have no experience with adjusting the ECM programming, just saying it seems like the mixture at idle needs to be richer. |

well the torque converter would just be to further increase performance, thats isnt really something that is needed at this time. The tune however i need and im sort of leaning towards getting the wideband, i found the sniper one for about $330, and they later on getting the sniper comando software so that i can do all the tuning myself for each modification i make so i dont have to keep going back and getting $500 dollar dyno tunes. A tune going by the wideband readings would be pretty close to as good as a dyno tune wouldnt it?
