Welcome to the forums Darrin.

A tune isn't needed for a CAI for his car.
In an 05+ I would agree with you completely though.

Normally I would agree, but I have seen this a lot depending on the car and the product that was installed.

If this is the only change that was made to the car and this happened immediately then I would check the installation to start with. Look for air leaks after the maf that are allowing in unmetered air. If the installation is good then it might be a good idea to reinstall the stock pieces and test it out that way. If the problem goes away with just that change then having the vehicle datalogged to monitor what is going on with both the stock air pieces and the CAI in place would likely show you what is up.

This is just one of those things that is just hard to say until you have all the data.

Hope it's an easy fix.

I had that happen to one of my vehicles and it turned out that you cant just replace a tps they actually have to be calibrated. I found that one out after i fried my old one! just my two cents.

If you replace the TPS what you need to do is adjust the TPS voltage. I found a nice little write up on this at the link below.

Blue Oval Chips Inc. - Throttle Pos

Worst case scenario if you have to drill out the screw holes is that you can have htis done properly in less than 1/2 an hour.

i'm with the other guys on the MAF could be dirty or there's a leak somewhere. if you get a chance take it all off and redo it all just to make sure everything is ok to begin with.

Same here but Jugs told me to wear goggles and I actually listened. I had a similar problem after I had my intake installed. It was a leak and HMUSN identified it. Check every square inch of that sucker.

I will say this though. I had the same exact simptoms show up again later. It ended up being my alternator was going bad and was causing it to idle and act funky. Its just strange because the simptom was identical. New alternator and the problem immeadiatly disappeared.

if your MAF is working i dont care what year car it is you shouldnt need a tune
your MAF is reading air still and sending to the computer to let the fuel injectors know how much fuel to shoot out with the amount of air going in
try cleaning or IAC and MAF as suggested. you can also unscrew your O2 sensors. if they're horribly black your rich, if they're white your BADLY lean.
try some fuel injector cleaner as well. and if you know how check your fuel pressure.

most likely you can just have a vacuum leak or IAC is dirty

My guess is either leaking brake booster, leak after the MAF, dirty IAC or bad TPS sensor.

Is there a special cleaner at AZ or somewhere that is specificlly made for MAF cleaning? Or is there a multipurpose type product that is better?
