Gears And Tune

this might be a dumb question but what gears does my 98 6 come stock with and what gears should i put in it for a faster 0-40. while im on the subject my father inlaw use to drag race and is experienced in swapping out rear ends so would it be easier to swap out mine with a GT or mess with the gears. i have no experience in either and he says it would be easier to swap out the rear end the work would be done by us and maybe one of my friends who is going to high performance school. now i just put a tune in my car a while ago about ohh a month ever scince i redid my wires and plugs my idle is at 700 or so and it takes longer to start it use to be just a quick turn of the key but now i have to hold the key there any idea's i seafoamed it about 3-4 months ago and ever scince i did its just ran worse?????

swapping the rear end might be easier

your stock comes with 2.73's the GT of the same year should have 3.27's ... and if you want a faster 0-40 put in 3.73s or something like that

Don't get 3.27's....I suggest you get atleast 3.73's...3.55's if you turbo or supercharge.

Will 4.10s make every day driving suck? How fast will they make you and will they help you all the way through the quarter mile or just for short runs?

i would suggest 4.10s the top end lose isnt big enough to really notice unless you go fi or have some serious horsepower.. i dont really know about daily driving through and get tlok while you install the gears

Will a t-lock reduce your handling cause thats just as important as acceleration to me.

Are you auto or five speed? Your first gear will be very short. the t-lok gets rid of the one wheel burn out so both wheels spin. Its a big help.

5 speed all the way man. Burn outs aren't the only thing thats important to me though I want handling more.
