New Clutch/Flywheel And Now Its Worse?!

I just had Pep Boys put in a SPEC 1 clutch and SPEC flywheel in my 03 stang. It seems like the problems got worse after this was done. Now when I let out the clutch to go into first gear the car shakes violently like when you dont give it enough gas. I sometimes have to push 2k rpm to get 1st gear to not "die" out on me. I've done about 70 miles stop and go and then some high way driving for like 250 miles to break it in, but it just doesnt seem like one morning all this is going to go away. I put in a Short throw shifter before pep boys touched the car, and it was really tight, which was cool, but now its just looser than the village whore. I had them change out my fluid when they changed the clutch and flywheel, also the throwout bearing. Back when the car was under warranty ford replaced my syncros but i didnt have time to properly break them in. **** is pissing me off bad! and like randomly when i put it in gear it will gind it self out of gear, or i shift from 2nd to 3rd and let off the clutch and it will grind itself out too. Should i just buy a new ****ing tranny? or is there a 10$ part that could be doing all this? The car has 41k miles two previous owners. The old clutch was excessivly worn.

Also the Clutch is rated at 285 FT/LB torque and im putting out like 185 maybe, could that be a possible problem?

i don't think its firm. The clutch pedal is like 6 inchs and it engages at like 1-2 inches from the rest position.

pep boys have the worst service ever. my mom take her van there to get tires, on the way home, 3 hubcaps feel off. they fixed the problem by replacing the oem ford ones with a pack of there "4 for $20" sets. the van looks like a rice rocket now.

i would not have them touch my car if they where the last place left in the world. lazy minimum wage service techs...

Wow so much rage against pep boys. I know the one near me usually does good work. Of course that might be cuz I watch em like a hawk when they're working on my car. I don't know about your pep boys, but mine does test drive the car after doing work. I watched them do it. Also pep boys guarantees their work. If you're not satisfied they have to work on your car free until you are. Although you've waited so long now that they might not. Don't take it to Ford!!!! Not only is Ford more expensive, but they have done some dumb ass shit to my car so I'll never take it there again.

Are you sure the flywheel is balanced correctly? I know when I got mine I had to balance it. But maybe it was because mine was a lite weight billet aluminum one. Did yours need any balancing to match the crank? I've heard this could cause damage to your engine if not done properly, but like I said don't know if all flywheels have to be balanced or not.

haha man i think i would have went to wal mart lube befor i let pepboys touch my car haha. sorry they suckered you in like that. im not sure how techniquely inclined you are but your problem is in your short throw it seld. when you get down to where it is there are 2 screws that are about half in inch think that are spaced a certain length from the shifter if they move (usually back on falls out and front one moves toward the shifter causing th problem) then you would have a problem shifting. and you have paid them already if takes them a million times to fix it keep tacking it back to them and in the end if it isn't fixed you need to contact the better business bureau and tell them about this. but i'm willing to bet its your shifter. because i'm not hearing any problems with you back gears really others than second but again its probably that screw. if it was you fly plate then you would feel it when you cranked the car not just when you shift. and if it was the clutches throw out bearing the car would shake violently when you were coming to a complete stop. and in neutral. the only other thing i could think of is your clutch cable could be stressed out and needs some therapy haha sorry bad joke. but your cable could have some slack and just need to be replaced.

places to avoid pepboys walmart jiffy lube car washes that offer oil changes and amcco. try and use a respected local shop that is family owned and operated. things to look for. an insanely old man who likes to point at stuff (usually because hes the boss). guys with a lot of tatoos how are working on the cars. stay away from places that offer things like 30 minute oil change and free 136 point inspection. inspection means what can i make up to sell this kid. and if they do an oil change in 30 minutes tehrew rushing and not doing the job right. hope this helps.

It was the shifter. I took it off to find the bushing at the bottem of the pan. But it still shakes a bit when leaving first but im starting to think its the cable.
