? about my new tint

just got the tint it done today. sides = sex. the back window....well, it looks like shit up at the top of the window where there are all those little vinyl dots. the shop said that that is normal because there is water trapped underneath the tint from the tinting process that they cant get out. he said that it will evaporate and be fine in a couple of days. is this true?

on my friends mustang the tinter covered up the top area (where all those vinyl dots are) with a black strip of vinyl, and then tinted the rest of the window. it looks very clean. im begining to think that the tint does not stick very well to those dots, and my tinter did not give a shit, and just tinted over them anyway. it seriously looks horrible.

so my question is, if i wait it out two days or so, will it in fact "evaporate" and look like it should? for all of you 99-04 coupes with aftermarket tint, does yours have a black strip of vinyl placed over the dots?

damnit what a pain in the ass. i was so excited to get it done, and the sides are beautiful, but i feel like crap everytime i go outside and look at the back window. well there is a plus, i got 20% on the back and its much lighter than i thought it would be. so now i can get 5% at the shops expense...

No, I've had mine for about 4-5 months and it still isn't sticking on the dot matrix.

I had 3M tint installed and it has never stuck to the dot stuff. It never really sealed to the defroster elements either.

Just this past summer I was cleaning the back window with some Windex and where they cut the tint in strips and line it up with the defroster, it came apart and started to bubble.

So do any of you know if they can take the old tint off the rear window, clean it up, and install new?

I think I got a lifetime warranty with the tint job.

I just don't know where they moved and how much crap I'll have to deal with to get it done.

They may have used glue to stick the tint on there. The guy at my place told me about that option, but he said it will eventually dry up and look like hell.

First of all NEVER use Windex on your tint. That's why it bubbled up and fell off... They sell special tint cleaners at auto stores. So when you go to have them re-do it make sure you do NOT mention the part where you put Windex on it.

I think you can use non ammonia Windex but that's still a chance, just stick to special cleaners

no, the black strip is a solid piece of vinyl, so no light passes through it. it looks very clean.

The guy who did my tint sanded down the dots and just put the tint over it, he was VERY good and it looks awesome. For about a week it had water bubbles but it looks perfect now.
