huh i though in some cars the linkage for R and 5 were on the same dealio ... maybe im nuts

Reverse doesn't have a synchronizer that's why if you try to put it into reverse while you're moving it'll grind to hell lol...

OK I had the very same problem twice now actually. It's the syncro and the 5th gear assembly. It was like that when I bought my stang, fixed it...barely a year later started again...I just bought a new tranny for like $260 off eBay lol. I've had my tranny off my car so many time I can do it blind folded. Me and dad actually timed it and did a complete tranny swap in 31 mins lol.

lol well if you're up for it find a master rebuild kit and go for it... don't kno what transmission you have...

yup eBay. I had my old one completely rebuilt and now its a back up. I'll take transmissions on and off but i dont fool with them internally...too much shit that has to work together there.
