nope its an automatic. I am really thinking the sound is coming from one of the lifters

I have to agree with this. The 1999 and 2000 have an valve cover flaw that allows engine oil to get sucked through the pcv system and back into the intake manifold. check your spark plugs to see. If it turns out to be this you can get an pcv system oil separator that will fix the problem the cheapest.

do you know what engine knock is? i doubt you have a lifter problem.....check your spark plugs and ignition cables to make sure that you are gettin a good spark.

Ok, its a loud ticking noise, but its loudest under the valve cover after taking off the oil cap. Just have to see what it is under there and I am very certain it is something under there. Just like it was said, it could be something with the PCV systm. Will definately check that out.

i had a clicking noise but it was a cracked exhaust manifold, but got it fixed and it stopped
