Tranny will not leave Park

Shifter will not move. Acts like the brake is not pushed. Also, brake lights have quit working. From the failure mode, I think that the brake electronic circuit is not working, so the tranny thinks the brake is not pushed, so it will not leave Park. Could this be a simple fuse? I will see the car in the morning. All suggestions are most welcome.

You probably have an electrical problem like you've assessed. I would assume there is a grounding wire that makes contact when the brake is depressed, sending a signal to the system that unlocks your shifter. If that wire has an open somewhere in between, could mean problems. If you can read a schematic, buy a book for your car and use a multimeter and probe around. If not, I would take it to a dealership to get fixed. (you'll ave to get it towed obviously)

Problem solved. Wire on switch mounte on pedal had broken at the metal spade connector.
