honda's are built different.. they are more forgiving when you bounce off the rev limiter.. they even idle at 4k rpm

they idle at 4k huh??

doesn't sound very gas efficent ...

i believe you meant to say that they cruise at 4k?

the difference between the hondas and our car is
1. most of them are warmed up and haven't been sitting for a long time...
2. they are smaller engines with less pistons flying around... and less rotational mass being tossed about...

so there are a few small differences... now if you want a high revving car ... get an rx-7 i saw one run for 10 minutes at 9k and the only reason it shut off was because it ran out of coolant... and the catalytic converter was on fire

I've owned a number of Hondas and never seen the idle set at above 1K.

A major difference is that they are overhead cam so can run at higher RPM. The Ford V6 is a pushrod engine and limited in RPM due to the valve train design. The 4.6L V8 is overhead cam.

I need to do it to my car. But holding down at 20 seconds is bad for any car, at ANY high RPM, maybe not immediately bad, but bad in the long run.

By the way, that RX-8 sound is NICE...
