Cold Air Intake

Hello,

I have a 2001 V6 Coupe

What is a cold air intake, how does the air get to it, and where does it go?
Is it beneficial to my machine, and what are the pros/cons?

The one I am looking at can be found here:
eBay Motors: MUSTANG 99-03 3.8L 3.8 V6 COLD AIR INTAKE FILTER SYSTEM (item 320191120738 end time Dec-05-07 15:34:05 PST)

Thanks!

a cold air intake allows more flow through a better filter resulting in a minimal but nevertheless gain of Horsepower.

pro's:

better mpg
faster car

con's:

you breaking something while installing it.

Do you think the CAI I posted to is good enough? Please keep in mind I don't have a huge budget, and this seems right on the mark for what I can afford. Of course I know what I pay for, but I don't know jack shit about this kind of stuff.

well all your really paying for is the tubing. Then if your budget allows it go buy a K&N filter (reusable, dishwasher safe, and lifetime warranty)

you get a gause filter with the ebay kit, it is washable and works pretty well but it is suggested that you get a K&N as it is "higher quality" then the ebay one
