New Tires, Need Info
Hey I got a 1998 mustang, put 17's on it, and on the back rear wheels it has 205/40/R17. I'm gettin new ones in this week, not sure what to get... I'm really thinking 255/45/R17. What do you guys think? As of right now, the tires I have on there that I'm changing, they don't feel up the wheel well at all and look completely retarded.
The recommended size for my mustang with 17's that my buddies at a store (4N Motorsports) looked up said 255/45/R17... I need a tall tire because it's making me go insane looking at a very unfilled wheel well... but I dont want to sacrifice width because it's hard for me to hook up. So would 255/45/R17 be the best for me or maybe if they make like a 255/50 or 55... would those fit? I don't want to be rubbing anything!! Anyways, thanks alot guys.

i put 17's on my '01. they are 235/55/R17. they fill up the wheel well but they scrub when i turn on uneven ground. it also lifted my car about an inch and a half. i wouldnt get too tall of a tire or youre gonna have the same problems as me

if you can fit 205s on there, you must have very small rims like 8" wide or something. if you were worried about connecting to the ground, you shouldve gotten 10.5" wide w/ 315 wide tires. if you really do have 8" rims, im not even sure if 255s will fit

if you have 17*8 the most common tire is going to be a 245*45 as they fit perfectly ...
if you want you can do anything between a 225-275 ... 245-255 will fit best... and a 45% side wall is most likely best... also to help fill that wheel well you should get some frpp c springs

Yeah man taller tires will F*** with your speedo. Go with the widest tires that your rims will hold. Then get some springs. That will help fill your wheel well.
