K&N Filter Help...

Question..

I ordered a CAI off ebay like i hear everybody talkin about and i hear you say the best thing to do is upgrade the filter that comes with the kit to a K&N filter,i was wondering how was it suppose to clamp down on the intake pipe??Theres no air box to sit it in..Maybe a different model of filter??Advice would be appreciated

Yeah I was wondering that myself. I already have a K&N filter and I just got a CAI of ebay. I still have not put it on, but as far as I can tell I'm gonna have to just use the filter that came with the kit. If anyone can answer this question I'd love to know too.

You say no air box, so is it a cone shaped filter?

I figured that, but everyone keeps saying to put a K&N on the ebay CAI. Does K&N make a different filter for the CAI than the one that fits the stock intake?

Yeah the filter that comes with the CAI looks almost just like the K&N. But the one that comes with the CAI has a little extension on the end of it that allows you to connect it to the CAI. The K&N doesn't have that.

you have two options duct tape, or electrical tape

or you could try to get the rubber fitting from the ebay filter and put it on your k'n

LEAVE the CAI filter
why waste $40 on a K&N filter to see .3 of a hp
they're pretty much the exact same with out the brand name.
its washable as well
i washed mine 4-5times

you need a conical shaped filter. k&n makes them too. dont look for your car, but look for the size that fits your application (i.e. 3" diameter or 4" diameter conical k&n filter).

Hey guys I just put my new CAI on today and it rocks. I went ahead and used the filter that came with the kit cuz it was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much easier. However, the K&N that I was using in my stock intake is a conical filter! Plus I can tell you it is not exactly the same. The K&N is bigger. A bigger filter lets in more air. The problem is, as has been stated the damn thing won't connect to the CAI. BTW, putting the filter on was by far the hardest part of the whole CAI install. It is a MAJOR PAIN IN THE ASS to get that thing up into the fender well and connected to the pipe.

i agree. to ease the install, i had to jack the car up, turn the wheels, and use a flashlight...
