New Guy Looking For Mods...

Hey guys, I'm new here. Just thought I'd introduce myself and my 'stang and get u guys opinion on what some good mods are.

I've got a 2007 Mustang V6 in orange, completely stock

Here's a list of mods I plan on doing, in no particular order:

Shelby GT500 front and rear end assembly
Cold Air intake
Turbo
Racing stripes(black)
New Hood (not sure what kind yet)
New Wheels
New Spoiler

I want to go with an all GT500 look...I just love the way they look. The guys at the Ford dealer told me that it would all fit I'd just need to buy the headlights, grill, fog lamps, etc... to make it work. It just depends on how much money I have to spend. Ill prob end up doing some sort of engine tuning first like a cold air intake first, and thats what I'm looking at now.

So do u guys have any info on what brand is a good brand? Do I need a tuner to set it up? Ive been looking on americanmuscle.com and I've come across some intakes that look good but they say they require a tuner which costs somewhere around $300 or so and I dont really want to spend $600+ on a cold air intake. So whats u guys opinion? Thanks.

welcome to the forums.
for a cai I would suggest the JLT/SCT combo.

it's well worth the $600

10-14 RWHP with a 93 octane tune.

That may be something I might get despite the price. And my friend told me that a CAI will actually IMPROVE my mpg. I find that hard to believe. Im running the low grade stuff and Im getting 19-20mpg. If Im running on 93 octane with a CAI I can see my mpg going down significantly.

If you want to turbo the car don't bother with a CAI. It will be useless once you have the turbo kit.

A tune, cai, and underdrive pulleys can increase gas mileage.

A tuner can set your pcm to have your car act more conservative(for lack of better words), to save you gas.
A CAI will put more air into your engine causing a richer a/f mixture which is a little more combustable to cause you to save gas.
Underdive pulleys slow down your accessorys and cause less drag on them which saves you gas and frees up hp.

Same here. I never thought about underdrive pulleys before. I think Im going to wait on the turbo because:

1) I cant find one for the V6
2) They're WAY too expensive

Ill just go with the CAI and underdrive pulley for now.

So I should look at the JLT/SCT combo for the CAI and whats a good brand of underdrive pulley? Sorry for all the questions, Im just trying to get the best parts. Thanks for dealing with me tho.

i personally would suggest looking into a turbo kit first... learn what comes with it, what doesn't... what you will need to make a turbo kit work better then it can from the seller...

i say this cause you will find that the $300 you spent on the CAI will be a waste once you take off that CAI and install a turbo...

look into a limited slip rear end, tuner... and then turbo components ...
