I think what I would do is offer him 9k, but pay him in full, because I could afford that. If I told him I would write a check on the spot for $9000...I think he would do it.

i say go for it, but first check to see if the car had its problems fixed. the 99 cobra was a very troubled year for the ford svt. there was a bunch of problems with it. the result being it didnt produce as much hp as written on paper. but if its had the necessary fixes, itll work right up to par with the perfect running 01 cobras

That is probably the only thing I am leery about, plus 99 was a bad year for Mustangs anyway, since the switch. They changed lots of stuff making it hard to find parts for. I'll call and see what I can get. I need to sell my car first though. That way, I could pay for the new Cobra with that, and pay Mom back the remainder.

i have a 99 v6 and theres no prob finding parts whatsoever. even cobra and gt owners have no trouble finding stuff bwecause the 99-04 years are pretty interchangeable

Sounds like a kick ass car. If you can afford it...go for it. I agree you should see if you can get the price down. However, be aware that no matter what you buy it for, you will owe him the full cost up front. If you're making payments on the car it is to a bank (or other financial institution) but the seller still gets all the money up front. Therefore, I don't think the fact that you're offering a check on the spot will do anything for you. But you can certainly try to haggle the price down a bit. Good luck man.

yeah i kno i was like no way this can be real but the guy lives in the middle of nowwhere in NY (i live in a populated area lol) and i kept talking to him and nobody within a 100 miles wanted a mustang so i told him i'll give him $4800 for it (kinda as a joke not expecting him to sell it) but then he said "ok you have a deal i'll get it inspected and a tune up for free if you can be here in two weeks to pick it up." so i basically shit my pants and called it a good day lol

wow man that's great. I got my '95 vert from a auto wholesaler for $6000. It had 58K on it. It was also in mint condition and came with the mach 460 sound system. And I thought I had found a good deal!
