Found out what the whine was coming from the rear end...

Well my car ran fine all day until i went to the store. I came out and tried to start it and it wouldnt turn over. It was like it was out of gas. Then i noticed when i turned the key to the on position i didnt hear the fuel pump(assuming that's what the noise is) turn on. I had noticed a whine coming from my rear end but wasnt sure what it was but i'm pretty sure now it was the fuel pump....

What i need to know is if anyone can give me a price range on how much it's going to cost to replace cause i dont have the skill or tools to replace it myself...

You should probably check first before you go and start replacing parts without knowing for sure. Turn the key to on for a few seconds then back off. Then go crack the bolts on one of the fuel lines and see if you have any pressure and/or fuel coming out. If you get nothing after backin it out all all the way then itd be pretty safe to say your pump is shot.

good call TM ... check your fuel pressure... release it in a clean safe way... turn your car to the on position at (cause it runs the pump for a second or two) then see if you still have pressure

or you could stick a funnel down in your tank then have someone crank the car and listen for the pump. if you here a buzzing noise coming from the funnel then your pump is good. also there is a way to prime your fuel pump directly with a dmm and the battery but i dont remember because its too late. i need to study that. also i forgot de we have a schrader valve on our fuel rail. im pretty sure the old fox bodies do.
