idk much about how much power higher compression ratios give, but im pretty sure that with a f-150 4.2 youd still get blown away by GTs(it would still be stock cr). but like you said, a ssms 4.2 at 10.5 or 11.0 cr might be a big difference. call me a traitor but id still take a 4.6 v8 over a 4.2 or 4.3 anyday

i don't blame you i would get a GTO over a s-197 any day as well...

H ill hurt you

AND the 4.2 out of an F150, if worked right can compete with a 4.6 ... all you would have to do is port and polish the hole thing, upgrade the fuel system, upgrade the tune... and if its an auto work it over and you can easily keep up... oh and all your basic bolt ons

If i decide on doing the major engine stuff i'll definately be getting an 8.8 rear end and I'll almost have to get a dyno tune if i go FI, but why not 4.10s? Everything I've seen says 4.10s for automatic 3.73s for manual.

4.2 w/ Heads, cam, intakes, and all the bolt-ons would be playing with modded PI GT's for sure.

Heck, my car makes about as much whp as a PI GT and all I've got is CAI, Cobra take-off exhaust, heads, and cam.... no LT's, no intakes, no UDP, etc, and stock displacement. That's not to say I'd run even with one, necessarily, it might take a little more power and/or gears/tloc, but a 4.2 w/ H/C/I and all the bolt-ons, gears, etc, would probably have a notable advantage over your average PI GT.

Either, really.

Most PI GT's are New Edges though, of course.

Yeah, basically, I was referring to New Edge GT's... because they typically make 210-230whp and run low 14's or so.

Well, like I said, it makes similar whp to stock PI GT's. I haven't hit the track with it, yet, but I think it'll probably take gears,t-loc, and good driving to run near them despite similar power.

Thanks...

The 6 is on the back-burner right now, but eventually, I'd like to go 13's with as few extra mods as possible.

no CAI will get you 10hp, ebay or K&N and the ebay cai is just fine

if you go with the vortech V2 you have no need for CAI because the vortech comes with it

you do not need the gt bumper for duals

no need for the throttle body unless upper intake manifold matches size

sniper tune or sct recommended... both are excellent

no shit lol
i got to step on his balls as well

Oh... well, I said I was making the same whp as 99-04 GT's and all I have is CAI, Exhaust, Heads, and Cam... but it would probably take a couple more things, like gears/t-loc to put me in the low 14's.

There is a guy with a 3.8 with virtually the same power as me running 14.0's @ 99, but he has gears/tloc.
