03 Automatic
Alright well I got my (first) car this summer and I've finally got the cash flow to start putting some work into it. Car is an 03 V6 but it has an automatic transmission. I'm just wondering if it is worth it to really put a whole lot into it. How much change will i see with a tuner? I'm really looking to just be able to mess around a bit learning to drive well and to be able to keep up/ahead of with the close to stock cars like mine.
First thing I'm doing is CAI, then tuner and then exhaust. I'll also be looking for a gt rear end or just to put gears/T-Lok in but I dont know how much that would help. What is the next easiest step to add power to my car after that stuff? |

It will be my car for awhile, definitely no real major stuff just want some extra horsepower. Budget is 1-2 grand. Anything I can do will be DIY and anything I can't will be done at a good shop. Exhaust is the next step I think I'm going to be going for. CAI I'll be getting off ebay soon.

if you have 1-2k i say nitrous w/ all the accesories, 4.10 gears, t-lok, and an xcal 2/3 tuner, you could easily see mid-high 13s with that setup

best gains will come from underdrive pulley and tuning , next would be K&N filter and gears , then exhaust last .....

Alright well i need to bring this back from the dead. How hard is it to install a transmission cooler and Transgo shift kit? Thats will be the next thing I'll be doing after CAI. Then SCT XCal3. Then FRPP 4.10 gears and T-Lok. Then UD Pullies. Then MAC Long Tube Headers, Offroad H Pipe and then I'm running into a problem with finding a Cat Back System with Flowmaster Original 40s. I've heard several and really liked them but apparently no one makes a Cat Back system with them in it. Do I have to have it custom made? After all of that I dont really know. Probably start on the engine and work to SCing it.

-6spd trans. -shorthrow -CAI "k&N" -exhaust "H pipe, true dual,Mac or Flow" but you have to have GT bumper -modding wise "snipe tuning" -throutle body "bbk" & if you really want more speed supercharger it "vortech" and deff. get a intercooler

I have an Ebay CAI and how much can you really get from a K&N filter? Exhaust-yes. dont really need the gt bumper though I'd like to get a tuner that my nearest dyno has experience with You really don't sound like you know what you're talking about also. Your post was unorganized and the language that you used did not exactly scream I know what I'm doing.

uhhh ok buddy.. your the newbie on this site.
![]() & im pretty sure that, EBAY CAI blows out the ass! they are cheap as shit! the filters that come with them suck also... and you not even going to get 10hp out of them. sooo that was a waste of your money. and you can ask anyone.....k&n is the way to go if you are to get CAI ohh and, if your getting exhaust and you dont want it to sound like a peice of shit... then you need dual set up, which that is where the GT bumber comes in.

but your ? about the K&N
the air going threw is alot better and cleaner.trust me, one of my friends got the ebay one....and they said it blowed until they got k&n i know that ebay has one with k&n. its the aluminum one that comes with the filter for like $80...which is not a bad deal. but if you want the max on your CAI then you need the actual k&n everything. for like $1xx something |

How can a big pipe differ in any way from another big pipe? Aluminum Vs. stainless steel? I may get a K&N filter, i dont know yet, I've only heard good things about them. The exhaust will be a dual exhaust, I'm going all the way from the headers back. MAC longtube headers, MAC offroad H pipe and then a Cat Back system with Flowmaster original 40s. The tips will be right below the bumper. Go to , that is what it will look/sound like.

yeah i was just messin around with ya man. but yeah that was what i was about to say with the exhaust..go headers back.Mac longtube,h pipe, and cat back. it would sound good. well it really dosnt make a difference on pipe for your CAI, but i would want something that would keep cold. but yeah k&n is prolly the route to go....if you could find one that comes with the filter on ebay, i would get it. because it owuld be cheaper than just getting a off brand filter then going out and buying a k&n filter b/c it is kinda pricy on k&n filters. if you find one on ebay with the stainless steal pipes or aluminum and it has the k&n filter you would save alot more money and it would give you better a little better hp boost

I don't want to start a war here, but as a performance transmission builder I have to tell you that I don't like the way these TransGo shift kits do their thing. You have to make modifications that can actually shorten the life of the transmission and once done are not really reversible for the average Joe.
If anyone needs any products or just some instructions on modifications that can be done to these transmissions that will not only provide the shifting you want but also improve the life and durability of the transmission then just message me and let me know. Here is my web page BC Automotive Darrin |
