Cold Air Intake... I Got It But... Just Read
k i just got my cold air intake today, and installed it which took lik 2 hrs cuz sum parts didnt fit that well and it didnt have any instructions at all and im only 17 so gimme a break.
but i took it for a spin but i didnt really notice any difference, maybe cuz somone was in the car and its windy from the tropical storm but still my friend sed u can here the cold air being sucked in..i didnt hear it or notice a difference really did anyone have this problem or maybe a heads up on the intake. i know alot of u have intakes soo basically i wana know if ur intake made a differnce that u noticed

you wont notice the gains of a cai, just the woooosh noise. on better breathing apps. you can hear it more, so don't fret.

yea i heard it 2day but at about 2,700 rpms, its more lik a little whistle noise. it accelerated a little quicker, and i timed my 0-60 and it improved but just a noch, not a full second more lik .3 of a second, .5

i could "feel" my difference but it was small it is hard to tell by the SOTP (seat of the pants) feeling but if you want to really hear it pull your passengerside kicker panel... the whistling between gears with my fenderwell kit got more agressive after my SCT tune.

I noticed a small diffrence also but i can really hear mine when i first start my car or when it hits about 3000 rpms it whistles

yea mine whistles at like 2,800 or 3,000 rpms and makes another whistle sound if u switch gears at the rpm

k i just saw a video of a car with CAI but it wasnt a mustang and u could hear the air getting sucked in alot louder then how i can hear mine.
is anyone else's CAI loud? or just very faint

you can barely hear mine over the exhaust unless you are standing by the pass. fenderwell or sitting in the pass. seat between shifts.

what does it sound like though? cuz mine i only hear a faint whistle sound at about 3,000 rpms or 2,800. but i hear other intakes and u can hear the air getting sucked in pretty loud...idk maybe its the car

sounds like air getting sucked in very loud, you just can;t hear it over the exhaust...
sounds like an air compressor spraying but not as violent...

i have a 3" and 3.5" metal pipe with a conical filter. i dont know how yours sounds for sure, but if you haven't lost power or thrown any SES codes, you are fine.

also known as CEL: service engine soon, check engine light... ses is 99+ cel is pre99 v6 for the most part.
yeah, it would light up in your gauge cluster. i doubt you would throw any codes with a properly installed air inlet system unless you messed up the MAF, then you would have all kinds of metering issues and air/fuel screw ups.

ohh then im good i guess, i have no lights showing up and i've driving the car a few times too so it woulda showed up. i guess it just doesnt suck in as much air or make as loud a noise...its there any kind work or things i can do so more air gets to the intake?

port and polish the upper and lower intake manifolds and half shaft the throttle body.
or if you want a 3" cowl hood to clear a windstar intake manifold, that could get you 15+rwhp, a greater % with free exhaust and a good tune.

the iac won't clear the stock hood and I have yet seen a windstar manifold be able to clear a stock hood... thats just another option a lot of the big N/A power guys go that route or the custom 5L sheetmetal intakes with runners built in.
porting and polishing can be expensive and cost you down time. halfshafting the TB can ge done in a day easily, but gains are minimal. i would just leave things as they are for a street car and add a supercharger (11psi procharger) if you crave more air
