Underbody Lights
I just bought my 1999 v6 2 weeks ago and the person i bought it from told me that his son put lights under the car but he didnt know where the switch is. I found the box under my hood and traced the wires back to the switch and found it. i turned on m engine and flipped the swith but nothing happened. Does any one have any idea what might be wrong? im not to fond of the lights under the car but i figured if there there i might as well use them.

Do yourself a favor and get rid of them. Nothing screams RICE like neon.

First of all welcome to MM and congrats on your first Stang. The lights should have a power wire spliced in somewhere as well as a ground wire. You should be able to follow them to the source and remove them. Probably a few screws securing the lights to the body somewhere. Shouldn't be too complicated. Let us know how it goes. Post some pics of your ride.

underbody lights
neons arent bad looking on a mustang, i have them on mine. It makes your stang stick out from the herd, having a tricked out stang with neons, and all that other stuff makes it unique not like the rest of them. and no im not a 16 or 17 yr old who took my daddys car. im 20 and i work for my shit.

Neons are the dumbest thing ever. Anybody that has them should burn their car.
It's all about the LED's! :award |

i would never put neons or leds on my car, but on some rides, if done properly, doesnt look bad.

LED's are honestly a better option. Not only do they tend to be either same or cheaper price, but they have a major advantage of neons.
Neons are in glass tubes. LED's are individual mini diodes. Guess which one breaks easier! I know a shop around this area that does all kinds of electrical work. Audio, lighting, he even does all the cop cars for IPD with installing lights, cages, etc. He's done numerous neon kits and after a while stopped doing them. I asked why, too many customers broke. And the warehouse where he receives inventory from won't accept returns, and they ALSO stopped selling them for same reason. Too many customers tried to return broken merchandise. LED's on the other hand. Well... good luck breaking those. Plus the light intensity is as if not brighter. And patterns are available on certain kits. They just put Neons to shame. So I'm quite open to people with lights on cars even if they are musclecars. If done tastefully and within the feel of the car. If somebody has a black car with red racing stripes and other accessories. Red undercarriage lights are a nice and stylish accent. |
