Vortech vs Procharger

Ok, this spring i plan on putting a supercharger on my 2000 stang. Question is which one. Ive heard stories about both Procharger and Vortech, both ups and downs. Ive researched both the Procharger 11 psi w/ P-1SC and the Vortech V-2 SQ S-Trim. Does anyone have one of these systems? The Procharger looks better since it has a higher PSI and is intercooled, but people always favor Vortech, even though it is not intercooled. I have seen a site that you can get a custom intercooler for the vortech, but i havent been able to find the url, so i dunno if the guys makes them anymore. So tell me what you guys think or recommend.

I'd Go With The Vortech SQ

Vortech is usually known for being more reliable, lasting often times as long as the car itself. The Procharger will likely need to be rebuilt every couple years, but would probably make a bit more power over the SQ. I don't think you'll notice much of a power difference with a V6 as compared to a V8 though so it's really up in the air. Installation is easier with the Procharger, as you don't need to tap the oil pan but then again now you've gotta change oil on that too regularly.

I went with an SQ and a Paxton intercooler and am happy with it.

which paxton intercooler did you use with the SQ? and did you have to do any custom work to it?

if your going to intercool a vortech you have to do a bit of work... ssstang will be able to help you with vortech products he seems to know them pretty well... When i install a kit i think i will go with vortech just cause there are more people in this section with them on compared to procharger... they love them and don't have nay complaints...

The reason that the procharger has slightly higher PSI is cause its not as efficent as the vortech but only just barley plus it has to run through the intercooler which speaking boost tends to loose about half a psi due to amount of tubing it has to travel and what not

ok vortech ftw

I see...I was leaning towards the vortech because of how efficient they are. If they are effiicient at 9psi w/o intercooler....then at a comparable 11psi w/ intercooler, they have to be sick.

thats cool ... if you wanted to be a bit custom you could go with a V1 instead of a V2... that would be cool there is a member on here with that going on

prochargers self oiling system tends to never be maintained properly and will need a rebuild
where as vortech everytime you change your oil your vortech is getting new oil.
only down side is people fear having to tap they're oil pan
its really not bad at all
very easy

Id rather have it professionally installed anyway. Doin bolt-ons yourself is one thing......im not tryin to blow my car up because something wasnt done correctly.....plus i tend to ignore instructions and try to figure it out myself.

randomness

Yeah i dont think there are any other bolt-ons that i know of besides pulleys. While the car hibernates this winter im gonna put a cobra brake system on it that has been long overdue, a tranny fluid cooler, and a rear seat delete. Actually ive noticed that people have been gettin that Eaton M112 to finally work good. From what ive seen so far, less than 3k gets you about 260ish at the tires STOCK....which has me wonderin what it would be like ona heavily modified car...hmmm

the thing is those kits are on hard core back order... you would have to make your own kit with the parts list that was provided ... well last i heard they were on back order... can't find enough parts to make everyone happy

i say go for the vortech, the lower end prochargers arent built like their bog borthers in the racing world, they are cheaper quality but they still charge you a lot. prochargers will need to reabuilt approx every 20-25k miles, plus changing the oil every 6000. vortec is a great supercharger and a decent price, and will still make neough power to break your motor. in reality, its whatever you prefer. ive owned the procharger and wont own a p1 or a d1 again.

Vortech will be the route i prolly take....but it would still be cool to actually use the m112. Youd think if the demand for that kit is so popular that they would start mass producing it.
