Depends on what you want out of the car. Street, strip? Look good or go fast?

i have about $300 to work with right now, but i get paid next week so i will have a little more. i am looking towards looking good(i already have an audio system in it), but i do want a liitle more punch out of the six. what would it take to get about 250 hp out of it?

p.s.- if i have the need for speed than i can take my other car out. ( 1981 amc spirt gt with a 304; soon to be replaced with a welll built 302/5.0.)

if you go the v8 route, thats an option, but you can make the 6 quicker cheaper to a point.

look good, drop it 1"-1.5" put some 17x9 wheels front, 17x10.5 rear, mach 1 stuff (look at my garage...)

thanks for the replies, my dad convinced me to give him my c5 corvette rims that i scored for eighty bucks. in return he said he would split the cost for some rims. so i will probably get some rims (. also my friend has a mustang and just ordered a cobra r front bumper and i convinced to mabye give me his mach 1 chin spoiler for free. i have always had my eyes on these rims for a while. tell me what you think.

i like them but the one thing they could be without is the extra slots on the outer lip part, if it was flush they would he great IMO

i got the same thing but in black, they came friday and i cant wait till i get the tires on. there sick.

but with $300
i have the same year stang as you. K & N is wat i woulda got but its too much money, so i spent $50 and got a different CAI.
but i'd get and exuast. flowmaster 40's next. mine cost $350.
after that since ur 16 i dont recomment a s/c or turbo. im 17 and i know im better off getting a few bolt ons first.
u can look at other ppls post about mods. they all say the same.
after intake in exuast get:
gears,
t-lock(put both wheels to use)
underdrive pulley and chip(x-cal 2) VMPTuning...ask jason
then headers and cams is my suggestion after that. probably make most hp difference.

like i said earlier i gave my dad my c5 corvette rims that i scored for eighty bucks. in return he said he would split the cost for some rims. i got my paycheck yesterday. i also already have the tires for the soon to be ordered rims. the exhaust will have to hold considering the local muffler shops are charging me around the $475 range for the same system you have "itschristorres8" . thanks again for the replies.

it would be more economical to build the 6 than to swap in an 8 unless you sold the 6 and bought an 8 altogether...

Yeah and us 17 year olds would have horrible insurance with the V8 . I also have a 1999 . Yey, for us kids and our V6 stangs . I am doing the exact same thing I just have a K & N intake and am in the procces of getting the money for new rims / tires becuase mine are fading quickly. After that I am going to get my exaust then T-loc and 4.10.1 gears.

As soon as it warms up I am taking it to the track to race a friend in a I think 1968 V8 mustang. I can win as long as I don't mess up horribly under the pressure of being at a track . He is a newbie to though with so it should be fun .

I got the same exhaust set up as Chris but I got tips to fill my saleen rep. bumper so mine was about 450 go back and see if they are adding tips in for that price cause that is way to expensive for 2 mufflers and some welding.
