Engine Swap... Options?

Ok, first off I know very little about major moding of this level. A friend of mine says he has a 302 V8 out of a 86 Mustang? No idea if this is true or not... but he does have a 302 V8.

He pulled it out about 6 months ago, and it was working at that time. Has been kept inside and covered since then. He said he is not sure if it still works. He wants $150 for it just to get it out of his garage.

I was thinking for that price, I could buy it... fix it, port it, whatever I can... and once my stang is not my dd I could drop it in there. Thoughts? Im completely new to this level of moding so be patient with me hehe.

Really? I wouldnt know haha.

How much of a difference would there be between that engine moded and my engine moded? I mean... $150 is not that much, and if its working then its even better.

the 5.0's take to mods a lot better than your motor will.
the thing about dropping one in is..
you will need a few things.

new motor mounts
new k member
new transmission
new driveshaft
new 8.8 rear end
new computer

just to say a few...

plus if its from an 86 yur prolly gonna want to rebuild the motor, and at that point have it decked, balanced and blue printed....not to mention that the computer will have to be OBD1 also. The 5.0 does put out a crazy amount of power when modified. A friend of mine had a N/A 5.0 that was a Z06 killer.

Hmm, ya I dont have the money to do all that. Looking at this and after talking it over with some people I think I will wait.

The only thing I will do is swap for a GT motor from my year model sometime.

Thanks for all the Info. !
