valves and or lifters?

So my engine is making a nice ticking sound and the car shakes while its sitting in gear, kinda like its gonna die but the idle rpms are fine, and it does a lil shake when accelerating from a stop. Also just about all my low end power is gone, and the car doesn't really accelerate for crap at all now. I was thinking exhaust leak, but couldn't find anything myself. I took it to an exhaust shop and they didn't find anything either. They mentioned valves or lifters or something in the valve train. How bad is that, or do you think it could be something else

i have the same problem with my car, everyone thought that it was an exhaust leak so everybody at work looked at it, (work at autozone) in the end they couldnt find anything but then i took it to one of my friends who works at a garage and he said it was one of my injectors tapping really freakin loud, take a stethoscope and stick the metal part on the tip of each injector and see if one is louder than the other, they also thought it was lifters but after a couple marvel treatments and seafoam and numerous other additives, it didnt do anything so it wasnt lifters.

check your 02 sensor. your running crappy because its switching from rich to lean like that. if you had a bad injector it would be a lot more prominent, also give your egr a look at. make sure none of the houses collapsed internally
