V6 Mustang vs. V6 Eclipse

I have a 2003 V6 Mustang with a 5spd, cold air intake, x-pipe exhaust, and nitto nt-555 tires. Somebody with a 2004 stock Eclipse V6 with a 5spd wants to race and I wanted to know how you guys think I would do against him.

lol u'll deff win, i raced an old eclipse, when my car was stock and i DUSTED him. the new ones come with i think 200hp.
i think the 200 v6 comes with 190-200hp, but with ur mods u'll be at like 215 hp about, dependin on ur exuast. a stock v6 will even beat a IS300 till about 100 mph.

i doubt he is at 215 to the wheels on the mustang. maybe at 180 to the wheels. the eclipse gt pre-new model is a dog and fwd gives it less edge at drag. you will beat it no problem even if you were stock.

overdrive on is 4th gear. overdrive off is a 3 speed and with many aftermarket tunes allows for more aggressive shift patterns, then turn overdrive on to slow down in a higher gear

i race overdrive off.

it wont affect a stock tuned car unless you race over 100- which stock v6 wont reach 100 in the 1/4 anyhow. hell, i dont reach 100 in the 1/4 yet...

overdrive is 4th gear. turn off o/d and you have a 3 speed. you would normally go into 4th around 70mph, but in the 1/4 most v6 mustangs trap in the 80-100 range from stock to bolt ons, and being in 3rd gear that extra bit means you pull in the higher rpms, powerband, and hold peak hp longer.

overdrive is a cruise gear to give fuel economy. i always have o/d on unless i am racing, but with o/d on i have a "valet" tune where my car runs at peak mpg settings, and with o/d off (3speed) i run in performance tune and my shift points and everything are dialed in for this.

yes. o/d on i still turn 3k rpms at 70mph due to the 4.10:1 gears. but with o/d off, i would be at 4k rpms with a 6krpm redline tuned in...

i have an auto. manual trans o/d is 5th gear for the most part. plus, the gearing is dif. in the 5-speed as opposed to the 4r70w, but even 4.10s in a 5 speed would suck on the highway

if a cam is considered a bolt on, it has been done on a 2000 n/a mustang vert with a 4r70w and a cam, all tuned by justin at vmptuning.

you should beat him with no problem because my friend with a 2001 mustang v6 with only a cai raced a 2003 eclipse stock and beat him. so you should have no problem beating him.

You should be able to beat that ricer no problem. I've beaten a spyder w/ my stock 'stang. There is this one eclipse in town w/ a bodykit on it and man that thing is so slow. I left his ass in 1st gear and never looked back. He kept telling me he needed a new transmission cuz he didn't have 6th gear. You know only ricers make excuses when they lose. The only thing you'll get beat on, if you're doing a highway run, is the topend. I can only hit about 116, stupid governor chip. RICE IT'S WHAT'S FOR DINNER!
