its hard to compare though because you cannot take your exhaust off and try 2.25 to feel
ive taken my exhuast off 3inch to 2.5 then 2.5 magnaflow muffler. i took it off so its just the 3inch dump. deffinitly some low end power loss
i had to put it back. and everyone has told me ill notice my car being faster with the 3inch
and my car pushes out 279rwhp with the tune i have now roughly about 260rwhp.

2.5 is better if you have plans on at least nitrous or a s/c or stroking the motor
ya i know what your saying. eventually i will be going f/i

Hahaha, one more post and you'll have the new year, tjames.

I'm afraid my dreams and aspirations to mod may not come...I gotta make two car payments in addition to paying about 10 bills on just my income...

this post grew, im gonna go with 2.25, i would go with 2.50 but from what i can see the shop im doing it at recommends 2.25. either way i think its going to be awesome, i would really like to take the cats off, im fairly sure they're already gutted, but as for now, the cats are staying on it, shouldnt be any difference considering that theyre gutted though right?

i got my exhaust custom made from a shop in alaska with flow 40's and i cant stand the sound... it has a nice deep tone but it is barely louder than my stock and i have no clue why. im planning on cutting off the pipes right behind the mufflers.. i hope that will make it louder. im gonna fake out the rear exit pipes also. i have 2.25 inch piping and 4 inch tips

if they are gutted it will be even louder with the new exhaust but you will also loose more low end torque because of less back pressure

I did a cams/heads swap on an 04 GT the other day. It had Flowmaster 40's and I was really impressed with the sound.

you will have a tiny bit less power up to about 2k rpm

yes because of less backpressure. but it really wont be that bad because your getting 2.25" pipe. just saying if they are gutted your going to have less backpressure and loose a little low end torque, but that torque will be shifter up in the powerband so you will have a little more up top

I would get the 2.5 exhaust.
Just make sure you "lay the pipe" correctly and you will be fine
