Tuners and Chips

Is there a difference to how much hp a tuner vs. a chip can add? I was thinking of getting one of them, but I don't really understand what the difference is. Help please! It's for a 2000 v6 if that matters.

First off since you have a 2000 the tuner will be easier to use. Second the tuner allows you to make changes as you do different mods to your car. The tuner is better in every possible way. The only reason you would ever buy a chip is if you have an ODB1 engine that does not support tuners

BTW...if you get a tuner...get either an SCT or a Sniper. I would recommend the SCT Xcal 2.

a tuner will allow you to have 3 personalized tunes for your car as well as allowing you to data log, make adjustments for gears, retard timing, and read codes as well as alot of other things. some chips will have 3 tunes but dont offer all the other features. i recommend the xcal2/3 or sniper tuner. here is the xcal 3

yah definitly get a tuner if your pcm will support it. it just leaves you more options. now i prefer sniper. however SCT is great as well and chose the package that best suits you and your needs.

don't know much about sniper? check out the review in my sig it has many pics

your best bet is to find out what program your local tuner uses that way if you ever need some help with a power adder or something you are half way there with your tuning device

And since 90% of those mustang tuners use SCT.... thats what I would recommend.

Im really happy with the Predator. No problems easy to use, downloadable tunes, engine diagnostic tool. Great tuner imo.
