Strange noise

Car is an 03 v6 with an ebay CAI, the noise is something like a hissing noise, its not the cai, its much louder than that, and it only occurs around 1500 rpms when the car in in gear (any gear). I cant hear it when the car is in neutral.

I'll check both, it seems like its in the area of the new intake so it must be that, thought everything was good though. Why would it only be around 1500 rpms though, and only when the car is in gear (any gear). I've tried to reproduce it in neutral but it wont do it.

it could be that that's just the best rpm for you to be able to hear it at.
It wouldn't do it at idle because the intake isn't really sucking in any noticable air.
Go ahead and re tighten
everything down and see what's up.

even if i rev it in neutral to where it sounds the best in drive it doesn't do it. I'll check it tomorrow.

may just be the sucking hissing noice all CAI's do. but re tighten everything just to be sure.

if you cant here it when your reving thats because your not steady at those RPM's and you dont notice it or its not that loud.

Its just your intake. When i first put my car into drive, the CAI is the loudest....and i think around 1.5k is drive idle for an auto.
