... for the alternator you will need an impact wrench and maybe a pulley puller... I took mine to a shop to have them do the alt pulley... only cost me $10... was a really cool shop though

Size is not significantly larger. Compared to the waterpump pulley, and the crank pulley there are pretty nice size differences while the alt doesn't have a large size difference. Just enough to fix any undercharging issues.
