Car killed while driving and wont start now

okey so i was just driving along and all of a sudden my car killed. I coasted over to the side of the road and tried starting it again, all it did is just barely make a click then nothing. Yet the headlight and radio still worked fine. I tried jump starting it but still nothing. So i figured it cant be a starter problem because that wouldnt kill the car, it cant be the alternator cause that would have drained the battery, the connections are tight. So possibly an ignition fuse or what? i ned helo fast because i cant leave my car there for long.

if it is in a bad spot then i'd say get it towed to ur house or somewere close that u can feel safe leving the car.
then start cheking batery cenections.
also how long have u had the 4.2 in ur car

BAD GROUND! check your terminals and see if they are lose. my tempo did this to me weekly. i just wiggled the ground and off i went. however i recommend you fix this rather then ignore it like i did.

Ive had the 4.2 in for about 2 months. And it wouldnt be the ground would it, because the battery still has plenty of power and powers everything else in the car.

loose neg, battery cable like jugg said, cause your not getting enough power to turn your flywheel if your only getting one click

whats about the to engine and chassis ground? could be tight on the battery side lose on the other.... its showing characteristics of a pooched battery or a bad connection.

well it may be in the actual neg, battery cable. buy a new cable and see if that fixes it, but something killed your alt if it just died like that and your battery isnt strong enough to run the car

this is true. i think he has a bad connection in the charging circuit, probably ended up runnin his battery down and now it wont turn over and the alt isn't charging correctly. get a boost if u start u know its a ALT charging issue and your batter is flat. like i said this is commonly caused by a bad connection, or ground. but also could be straight up ur ALT failed on yah.

have you tried reading any of this thread? The car wont even turn over at all, i turn the key and nothing happens, so gas is not an issue here.

well i cant imagine the starter not turning because the car is out of gas, and i would have seen the gas light come on.

+1 its not a fuel issue. this is electrical and it has to do with the charging circuit

But are you sure it is a problem with the charging unit, becuase if that was the case wouldnt it still start with the jump start?
