2005 + rear end

Will a 2005+ mustang rear end bolt up to a 99-04 mustang? I know the 94-98 are more narrow than the 199-04 but what about the 05+?

Because I have yet to find a website that you can order a complete rear end with any gear for a 99-04. I've found every year but that.

Two problems with that. 1) being thats it's $1400 and the rest of the 8.8"s are like $800-900.
2) its not already assembled...thats another $300. They are usually already assembled and you just bolt them right up.

you should look around at junkyards. what is the purpose for this? what are you trying to do? is your rear end bad or are just just trying to upgrade or what are you trying to do and why are you buying it? that will help us give you suggestions

well it is 31 spline so it is going to be expensive, and the diff is put together, it is just the axles and such that needs to be put together, but your not going to find one with 4.10s in it for better than that price especially with a 31 spline upgrade, 1400 is cheap for a new one.

A 28 spline is just fine and I have a manual so I need 3.73 gears. Its just upgrading my rear end because I plan on stroking the engine and supercharging it as well.

o ok. it would be cheaper to go and pull an 8.8 out of a GT from a junkyard then to get a brand new one. they also pop up on ebay every once in a while

yea i know that lol but I was trying to find one that already had 3.73 gears put in it ao I didnt have to put them in. I can get one for $500 from a local junk yard, but gears are around $150 and gear setup is around $300.

if your going to s/c I would get a 31 spline cause once you start boosting its like a drug, a rearend is not something for going cheap on, but if you want cheaper you'll have to buy gears, bearing kit, friction modifier, and a used 8.8 so about 11-1200 plus install of the assembly if you cant do it

Personally I don't know anyone that can install gears themselves, do you? You have to have special shit to set up the gears..

I doubt I'll ever get to the point that I need a 31 spline but if I do I'll just sell the 28 and buy a 31. Its not like 8.8s are hard to sell lol. Actually if I ever get to the point where a 28 spline don't cut it I'll just get a 9" from my dad and that is invincible.

well i meant after gears are in to put it the rearend itself, so your looking at like 1500 installed for a used 8.8 with 28 splines, or 1900 for a new 31 spline I think it would be worth the wait to save up the extra 400, and if you can get your hand on a 9" go for it those things are beasts

Well I've already been told I can have a used 8.8" for $500 and my 7.5". The place around here that can set up gears charges $300 and gears are about $150. So I can be setting on an 8.8" with 3.73s for $950 and my rear end. My dad has like 30-40 9" rear ends with every gear ratio imaginable so if I do ever get enough power that a 28 spline cant handle it, I might just be the first V6 with a Ford 9" rear end lol.

The 05 Mustangs have a 3 link rear suspension. The 79-04's have a 4 link (two control arms vs one). The ears are missing on the 05's that you would need, to install one in an earlier model.

Ford Motorsport sells the whole rear axle assembly, with a couple different gear ratios. Check fordracing.com. Strange also sells them custom built, I believe.
