v6 starting problem

first offf, I have a 99 v6 stang

So, when i turn the key i get my system lights for about a secong and they fade off. It will click once or twice and then nothing.
When i try jumping it, the lights stay on the gauges sweep and stay normal, radio and everything work, but i still get one or two clicks, nothing else

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I think its the starter but i have no clue. thanks

is it cold where you live?

my guess would be your battery is just very low on charge

try boosting it again and if it starts turn radio and everything electrical off and go for a good drive

also when you try to jump it make sure the terminals on the batteries of both cars are clean, the jumper cables are good quality, and make sure you are revving the working car (i usually just hold it at 3k rpms) when you are for a bit before and while you are trying to start the dead car

How olds the battery? If old as car or not recently replaced thats probably your best bet. Take it to an auto parts store. Most of them will tell you if its bad or needs a charge and some places will even charge it for you. I sincerely doubt it would click at all if the starter was bad and the lights would light up if the starter is bad and the battery is good.

you probably have a bad ground wire on your battery, try replacing it

when ur jumping it, try attaching the ground (-) to something else (anything metal), if it starts easy, then its prob a bad ground cable attached to the battery.

yeah it probably is whats wrong with it, on older cars you could just buy a new bendex but you have to get a whole new starter in your case, but thats probably what it is since the starter works sometimes, a good way to tell is the starter will sound like something is wobbleing inside of it when someone starts the car, but you have to listen outside the car for it
