Starting Issue

This post is for a friend of mine. He has a bone stock 05 V6 and he's having problems with the battery. The car has 21k when he bought it, and now has 30k on her.

Basically the car doesn't start after sitting overnight. Dead battery. He brought the car in for service, they said his car was fine, but they swapped the battery for him, and he's had no prolbems for 2 months. Well it started up again on him.

And when i say dead battery, i mean dead battery. he has to let it sit and charge for 10 miinutes before he even gets a crank.

I heard of a similiar issue in the V8 05 section where battery is drained by the radio being left in the "on" position, so i had him make sure to turn it off everytime he gets out of the car, but he's still having issues. Also, the cars that had the battery issue also were sitting for a few days, not 12 hours.....

this is the third story ive heard like this
must be common
05 GT then 05 GT again now the v6
im guessing there is a short. which is what i told the other GT owners but i have yet to see them to report back wat or where the short was

i'd start looking to find the short
something is draining the batter OR the alternator could be putting out to high of an amp killing the battery but then i'd think other things like lights would blow out does that happen?
or possible the alternator is giving to low of an amp but barely to low
get both test at an auto store First then move on to finding the short

this is an issue with the vehicle its self... From what i remember reading there are two or three different things that can affect this... I know a few people solved it by putting the radio in the off position before shutting there cars off... others had issues with the PCM just draining the battery and the only way that could be fixed was by getting a new one from ford though most of the time it would still be under warranty...

I dont know how Ford judges whether they pull a recall or not.....from what i can put together myself, it seems if its only causing an inconvenience and not causing a safety issue...then they dont give a rats ass. This is the same thing with the faulty 99/00 valve covers that they wouldnt fix.

yea, but if it's happening to 1/10 vehicles, which they sell over 100k units of a year of, i think they might wanna fix this

its only an inconvenience....why would they want to spend more money fixing something that is not a safety hazard? Welcome to corporate America....no wonder ford had to sell Aston Martin
