Stiff shifting with Hurst Pro Comp shifter

Hey all, everyone did such a good job answering my 1st thread that I will post another stupid question.

I just installed a Hurst Pro Comp Short Shifter on my 07 V6 stang. I notice that is seems a lot more harder to shift into gear compared to the stock shifter. Is this normal?

Also, while installing the shifter, I noticed a small bit of oil film with a couple (probably tran fluid) all over the butt end of my tranny. More than likely the rear seal has crap in it from when they pulled the transmission to replace the pilot bearing at 300 miles. The rubber rear tranny mount seems soaked. I know this is probably common sense , but should I put the stock shifter back on before bringing the lemon back to the dealer for a 3rd look at the transmission? It was such a pain to swap out. I do not want them to blame the leak on the shifter or shifter install.

Thanks..

uhh yeah put the stocker back in if your going to make a warranty claim or they will blame the shifter, I'm guessing your a manual and yes if you change to a short shifter it is going to take more effort to shift since there is less leverage.

Thanks man.. Hey by anychance does anyone know why the damn tranny vibrates/makes a slight grinding noise when the clutch it not pressed in? You push down on the clutch and the noise goes away. Ford said that it will make a little noise, then I made them call Ford tech support because it just did not sound right. Other 2005+ V6 threads I have read claim to have same problem and gets the same answer by Ford. It sounds more like cheap ass throwout bearings than the pilot bearing. Does anyone know for sure?

it's called transmission whine.

it's normal with an after market shifter.
once you get your car back from the dealer try using dynamat (or any other sound deading material) around it and it should reduce the noise greatly.

This sound has been from day one pre and post new shifter. Just curious if anyone knew the cause. Like I said, I took it back to the dealer at about 300 miles and after 3 - 4 days, they said that it was probably the pilot bearing. They replaced it and still its got the noise. I took it back again and they looked it over and said agreed that the noise was a bit louder than it should be but found nothing wrong... Thanks for the help. Sorry to be a pain, but this is my first actual car. I have been a truck man since I first started driving.

yes put the stock shifter back on or they will claim that is the reason for it you can count on that. they will find anything they can to blame it on. take it in
