unchanged synthetic will do just has much harm as conventional, just cause it is harder to break down doesn't mean it wont and oil sitting for a year isn't going to protect your engine as well as getting it flushed and changed every 3 months, also you add oil back when you change the filter right?

^ correct!
thats why its every 3,000 miles OR 3 months which ever comes first!

deffinitly always change the oil filter and at least at oil to the seal aroundthe filter
and i like to pour a lil inside the filter
not changing the filter will build up sludge in the filter itself and everywhere else making the filter useless and can possibily even lower oil pressure
and if the oil filter is completely clogged things can get worse
if you dont have oil pressure oil may no go to the oil gallies in the engine block and crank
the bearings on the crank and rod will then get SO hot they can actually weld themselves together or blow the engine and cause serious over heating issues
and then taking apart the engine will be a pain if the parts are welded together from the heat
this isnt likely
you'd have to run the same oil filter for quite some time like couple years and have no oil pressure and run the car for a while

yeah always change the filter or you'll end up like the old guys that used to come into autozone asking for new rods, bearings, or even new engines since they thought it was ok to just spray it out with the hose.

hahah of course i put oil back in it. Im not a jackass, and you dont need to change synthetic every 3k miles...that conventional oil. look on royal purples website....you can go up to like 12k with theirs....its just important to change the filter and watch the oil level.
